Provisions related to slavery are found in the Constitution at amendment 13, section 1 which declares that slavery shall not exist in the United States except as punishment for a crime. The US Code also criminalises various offences related to the slave trade at sections 1582, 1583, 1585, 1587 and 1588.

Provisions related to servitude are found in the Constitution at amendment 13, section 1 which declares that involuntary servitude shall not exist in the United States except as punishment for a crime. The US Code also criminalises kidnapping to sell into involuntary servitude at section 1583; and sale into involuntary servitude at section 1584.
Provisions related to forced labour are found in the US Code at article section 1589 which criminalises providing or obtaining forced labour or services at section 1589.
